Since qualifying Dr. Schmitt has specialised in orthopaedic surgery and has gained further specialist qualification as an Orthopaedic Surgeon by the German General Medical Council. He has also gained a number of additional qualifications for chiropractic and sports medicine.

During his career Dr. Schmitt has studied under some of Germany’s most respected surgeons and has worked in many of the country’s specialist orthopaedic hospitals. He has been the responsible doctor at national cycling competitions and has cared for top Olympic athletes. An avid researcher and a published author, Dr. Schmitt is also involved in the educational arena of specialist orthopaedic and sports medicine, passing on his extensive experience and expertise to the next generation of orthopaedic medical practitioners.

Dr. Schmitt moved to the Costa del Sol with his family in 2002.
